Sam Cobden has a diverse range of work experience in the finance field. Sam began their career as a Management Accountant at MITIE in 2001. Sam then worked as a Financial Analyst at ADT Fire & Security from 2003 to 2005. From 2005 to 2008, they served as Private Banking Decision Support Manager at RBS. After that, they joined KPMG Advisory as a Business Modelling Consultant from 2008 to 2009.

In 2009, Sam joined HSBC Bank Canada as a Senior Manager in Financial Planning Analysis, where they stayed until 2013. At BCAA, they held multiple roles, including Senior Manager Fleet Operations and Strategies from 2013 to 2015, Senior Manager Financial Planning Analysis from 2015 to 2017, and Director of Road Assist from 2017 to 2018.

From 2018 to 2019, Sam was the Chief Financial Officer at Multapplied Networks, Inc. Following that, they worked as a Financial Consultant at Rocky Mountaineer from 2021 to 2022. Sam then became the Senior Director of FP&A at Rocky Mountaineer from 2022 to 2024 and is currently serving as the Senior Director of Finance.

From 1996 to 1998, they pursued A-Levels in Business Administration, Accounting, and Maths at Hurtwood House. This was followed by a Bachelor's degree in Business from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd from 1998 to 2001. In 2011, Sam obtained the Chartered Global Management Accountant certification from CIMA. They later acquired the Chartered Professional Accountant certification from CPA Canada in 2020. Additionally, Sam has pursued professional development through certifications such as "Strategic Planning Foundations" and "Critical Thinking for Better Judgment and Decision-Making" from LinkedIn in 2021.
