That’s why we’re searching for an experienced Lead Product Designer with exceptional skills in design, communication, people management, and organization.

About the Role

As Lead Product Designer, you will guide and manage our design team, setting the overall direction for product design. You will ensure that our products and features are user-centric, intuitive, and of the highest quality.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with your counterparts in engineering, data science, marketing, business, and other teams to define strategy, operations, and communication that will help us build an exceptional product and exceptional design team.

Responsibilities

  • Business Awareness - At the beginning, one of your most important projects will be to understand Rolla’s mission, values, and audience to ensure that you can conduct design decisions that align with the company’s goals

  • Design Strategy - Lead the design vision and long-term strategy, ensuring consistency and alignment with both user needs and business objectives. Establish design principles and guidelines for a cohesive product experience

  • Team Leadership & Development - Build, guide, and mentor a high-performing design team. You’ll oversee team growth, performance, resource allocation, and foster a culture of excellence

  • User Research - Conduct and lead user research, leveraging insights to drive user-centered design solutions. Transform user feedback into actionable improvements, including wireframes and prototypes. ** At Rolla, we have easy access to a diverse range of users across various personas and demographics. We’re looking for someone who can leverage this wealth of insights to our advantage*

  • Product Design - Drive the creation of user-centered design solutions, from wireframes to visual designs, ensuring a seamless experience across all touchpoints. Lead your team in defining intuitive user flows, interactions, and UI specifications

  • Design System - Establish and manage a scalable design system to ensure consistency across all products. Evolve UI components, patterns, and guidelines to maintain a cohesive visual experience

  • Cross-Team Collaboration - Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize features. You should have experience with agile methodologies and working within cross-functional teams

  • Thought Leadership - Act as a thought leader for design, both internally and externally, representing the product design team at meetings, conferences, and industry events

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in product design, with 2+ years in a leadership capacity

  • Experience guiding diverse design teams and delivering user-centric design processes

  • Proven track record of building and shipping applications or software across various platforms

  • Experience working on large-scale, complex projects and delivering products from concept to launch

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design goals and strategies to stakeholders and team members

  • Comfort and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, startup environment
