JOB SUMMARY

The Family Programs Department is seeking three individuals with an eye for programming, enjoy working with families and children, are highly dependable, have strong customer service and boundaries, and can leverage community support through programming to create a relaxing, comforting, and high-spirited environment for families. The Summer Camp Managers are responsible for the planning, oversight, and day-to-day operations of our 9-week long summer program. This role is responsible for supervising a total 15-20 Summer Camp Counselors that volunteer sporadically throughout each week and reports to the Family Programs Manager.

The Summer Camp Managers dates and hours are from May 28th to August 14th, 2025, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, organize, execute, and interact in daily summer camp activities.

  • Train and supervise Summer Camp Volunteers, including delegation of tasks and enforcing guidelines.

  • Manage weekly field trip activities coordinating transportation, lunch, communication to families, completion of family permission waiver forms, confirming attendees, etc.

  • Responsible for supervision of all children and families attending field trips.

  • Weekly check-ins with Family Support Services.

  • Maintain inventory of summer program supplies.

  • Coordinate daily lunches and snacks.

  • Follow RMHC Bay Area infection control policies and COVID-19 related precautions; and ensure cleanliness and order of all program spaces.

  • React effectively to emergency situations in a safe and professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREREQUISITE

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Related work experience that demonstrates initiative, program management skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Experience or willingness to learn how to work with families and/or children in crises, a plus.

  • Experience or willingness to learn how to interact with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, a plus.

  • Experience or willingness to learn how to supervise others and delegating responsibilities, a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Highly customer service oriented with enthusiasm and good sense of humor.

  • Excellent organizational skills and pro-active problem solving.

  • Strong attention to details.

  • Well-developed oral and communication skills.

  • Maintain confidentiality of House families and related reports and documentation.

  • Ability to work in a semi-medical environment with children being treated with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

  • Interest in and/or understanding of non-profit community.

  • Ability to interface comfortably with House guests and staff while maintaining a professional and courteous relationship.

  • Computer literate with MS Office suite of products on PC.

OTHER:

  • Certified in Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED (Can be facilitated by RMHC).
  • Valid CA driver’s License preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds.
  • TB test required prior to hire date.
  • Must be fully vaccinated (Including booster, if eligible)
