John Ridding

John Ridding is the Director at Room to Read. Prior to that, they were the Communication and Event Coordinator at LIN Center for Community Development from July 2016 to October 2017. There, they developed and executed communications strategy; worked on communication materials, data management and content creation for Philoinhuan.org website and LIN’s bi-monthly newsletters (English -Vietnamese). John also facilitated administration and logistics tasks for community events such as Narrow theGap community fund, Annual Cross-Sector Conference and other events as part of fundraising efforts. From September 2015 to June 2016, they were the Event Coordinator for the Personal and Professional Development Programme - Management and Marketing Department at Unitec Institute of Technology. There, they enhanced and widened the school’s network by doing research and developing communication strategies with various partners (students, businesses, Unitec staff). John also worked on administration/logistic work to prepare for monthly networking events (venue, reception, activities, F&B serving). Prior to that, they were a journalist at Tuoi Tre newspaper from August 2011 to December 2014.

John Ridding has a Master’s Degree in International Communication from Unitec Institute of Technology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the UNIVERSITY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES (USSH), and has completed an Intensive English Language Study Program at the University of Notre Dame. John also participated in the Summer Institute for News Literacy Fellows at The University of Hong Kong and has a background in literature from VNU-HCM High School for the Gifted.
