Director of Software at ROOSTER® Asset Tracking

Trevor Handley has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Trevor is currently serving as the Director of Software at ROOSTER® Asset Tracking since March 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Flock Freight from November 2021 to April 2022.

From November 2016 to November 2021, Trevor worked at CivicPlus as the Lead Software Engineer. In this role, they led a remote development team in rewriting a decade-old legacy software suite for local government clerks, focusing on meeting management, live video streaming, and document generation. Trevor also implemented and maintained a large search indexing service, incorporating OCR for searching text in embedded images and enabling immediate document indexing after upload.

Before CivicPlus, Trevor briefly worked at Valorem Consulting as a Software Developer II from September 2016 to October 2016.

From August 2014 to September 2016, they worked at DSI (Data Systems International, Inc.) as a Software Developer II. In this role, they developed new products, features, enhancements, and provided maintenance support across various aspects of the DSI platform. Trevor worked on backend layers, UI layers using WPF/XAML, as well as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5. Trevor also developed an offline-enabled HTML5 mobile client to interface with DSI's server platform.

Prior to DSI, Trevor worked at CivicPlus as a Software Developer II from January 2012 to August 2014.

In addition to the software development roles, Trevor also gained experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Kansas ITTC from November 2010 to December 2011, where they assisted Dr. Niehaus in Kernel/User Systems Programming research. Trevor also worked as an IT Intern at BlueCross & BlueShield of KC from June 2010 to August 2010.

Finally, Trevor started their career as a Mentored Intern at Honeywell Aerospace from June 2006 to May 2007.

Trevor Handley obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from The University of Kansas, where they studied from 2007 to 2011. In addition, they have received certification as a Certified Scrum Developer from the Scrum Alliance in August 2017, as well as another certification as a Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) from the same institution in July 2017.
