Cheryl Barton has worked in various technical and managerial roles throughout their career. Cheryl started their career in 1994 as a Software Designer at Nortel, where they worked until 2008. Cheryl then joined Irdeto and held multiple roles, including Principal Software Developer, Technical Program Manager, Technical Manager for Core Technology, and Technical Manager for Connected Transport. In these roles, they were responsible for managing engineering teams, program and release management, and delivering high-quality software to customers. In 2022, Cheryl joined Ross Video as a Software Manager, specifically in the Media I/O department.

Cheryl Barton attended Lorne Park Secondary School from 1985 to 1990. It is unknown whether they obtained a degree or studied in any specific field during this time. Following their secondary education, Cheryl enrolled at McMaster University from 1990 to 1994. Cheryl earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mathematics and Statistics from McMaster University. Cheryl also holds a certification as a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance, though the exact date of obtaining this certification is unknown.
