Chris Lennon

Director, Standards Strategy at Ross Video

Canadian-born, Lennon spent several years working at CHCH-TV in Ontario before moving to the U.S. to join a small company called Enterprise Systems Group, which eventually became part of Harris Corp., where he eventually became CTO Group lead.

Lennon has held a variety of leadership positions in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), including standards director, local section manager and technology committee chair. He is a SMPTE Fellow and recipient of SMPTE’s 2008 Citation.

He also serves as executive director of the Open Services Alliance (OSA), a global industry organization focused on interoperability among microservice oriented media systems. The OSA produced the media industry’s first microservices standards, working closely with SMPTE, in 2020, and continues to lead the way in this rapidly evolving area.

A prolific writer, Lennon has produced a number of white papers, trade publication and technical journal articles, and has contributed to the two most recent editions of the industry “bible”, the NAB Engineering Handbook. He also recently partnered with industry legend Clyde Smith to co-author a brand new book called The Media Workflow Puzzle, providing a comprehensive look at the entire media workflow from start to finish.
