Senior Mechanical Engineer at Rotor Bike Components

Joan Sanjuán Mercadal has a diverse work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Joan currently holds the position of Senior Mechanical Engineer at Rotor Bike Components, starting in June 2022. Prior to this, they served as Chief Engineer at Microlay 3D Printers from August 2017 to June 2022. In this role, they were responsible for the development and manufacturing of stereolithographic 3D printers and post-processing units for dental and audiology markets. Their tasks included mechanical design, materials modeling and testing, reseller support and training, vendor management, and firmware development.

Before joining Microlay 3D Printers, Joan worked at HP (Hewlett-Packard) from January 2009 to July 2017. Joan held the position of R&D Mechanical Engineer at the 3D Printing division, where they played a key role in developing and industrializing the liquid agents delivery system for HP Jet Fusion. Their responsibilities involved a combination of mechanical and fluidic design tasks, as well as providing technical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.

Joan's early career includes an internship at Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) from October 2007 to February 2008. Joan also completed a final project internship at HP from February 2008 to December 2008.

Throughout their career, Joan has gained expertise in mechanical engineering, 3D printing, and project management.

Joan Sanjuán Mercadal completed their Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya from 2002 to 2008. In addition, they also pursued further studies in Mechanical Engineering at the Institut national des Sciences appliquées de Toulouse from 2006 to 2007, earning a degree in Génie Mécanique.
