David Kennedy has a diverse background in engineering and software development. David has held various roles at different companies since 2005.

From 2005 to 2010, David worked at Swan Labs and later at F5 Networks as a Senior Software Engineer and then as a Development Manager. At Swan Labs, they developed a network optimization monitoring appliance and eventually transitioned into a team lead role, expanding the Belfast office.

In 2010, David joined Q1 Labs as a Senior Software Engineer, where they primarily used Perl and Java to work on a network security product line.

From 2011 to 2013, David worked at CloudOpt, an acceleration technology company focused on cloud deployments. As a Principal Engineer, they contributed to developing novel technologies and focused on cloud technologies, tools, platforms, and installations.

David then moved on to ExamTime.com, where they served as a Software Architect from 2011 to 2013. Their responsibilities included defining technical standards, deployment strategies, and operational tools and processes for the online study platform.

In 2013, David worked as a Cloud Engineer (contractor) at Deloitte, where they led a small development team and helped deliver a private cloud solution. David collaborated with IaaS and PaaS partners and managed software delivery processes.

Next, David worked as a Developer (Contractor) at Profinda.com in 2013, contributing to architecting a prototype of their core stack. David primarily worked on a Ruby on Rails project, focusing on login security and deployment.

From 2014 to 2018, David joined ShopKeep, a rapidly growing startup, in various roles. David started as a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on the server-side infrastructure. David then became a Principal Software Engineer and later served as a Senior Manager, overseeing the Belfast Core Engineering team.

In 2018, David joined Onit as a Consultant, partnering with businesses to build custom enterprise-wide software solutions. David worked on Ruby-on-Rails projects, process improvement, and the implementation of cloud technologies.

David's most recent role is at Rotor Videos, where they are currently the Head of Engineering. David previously held the position of Lead Platform Engineer, demonstrating their expertise and progression in engineering leadership.

David Kennedy began their education at Queen's University Belfast in 1991, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Joint Honors Physics and Computer Science. David successfully completed this program in 1994. Following this, David continued their education at the same institution and obtained a PhD in Astrophysics from Queen's University Belfast, completing their doctoral studies in 1998.
