David Rotter

Founder & Chief Clinical Prosthetist at Rotter Prosthetics

David is fully versed in every aspect of prosthetics. He specializes in solving challenging cases, including hip disarticulation, hemipelvectomy, upper-extremity, congenital limb deficiencies such as PFFD, and multiple limb involved patients for children, adolescents, and adults. He has come up with out of the box solutions, such as creating custom sled buckets for the US Paralympic Sled Hockey Team.

After 20 years serving as a Chief Clinical Prosthetist for a highly reputable private company in Chicago, David decided to start his own company. David Rotter Prosthetics is committed to creating an intimate environment and experience for his clients.

His professional experience is underscored by the active role he takes in the orthotic and prosthetic community. He has spent 12 years in leadership with the Association of Children’s Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinics (ACPOC), culminating with his current position as immediate past president. At ACPOC, David's colleagues are the best and brightest experts in the world in the care of children with orthotic and prosthetic needs. David is especially passionate about the care of children.

In 2007, David founded the Chicago Blade Runners, a group of over 40 members that is dedicated to providing opportunities for amputees to participate in 5K runs in the Chicago land area. He is the team prostethist for Dare2Tri, an organization dedicated to getting disabled athletes to compete in triathlon. David has taken 17 trips to Guatemala with the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) over the past 12 years. Each mission trip with ROMP is a constant reminder of why he loves what he does, and that is to provide opportunities to those in need.

Education and mentorship are a core part of David’s approach with his clients, manufacturers, and P&O companies. His knowledge and perspectives are valued throughout the industry, serving as an advisor for manufacturers like Otto Bock, Ossur, Fillauer, Freedom and Touchbionics and working with companies to re-imagine how they take future products to market. David authored two chapters in the current Atlas of Prosthetics and Orthotics and serves as a resource for those he has mentored over the years.

David prides himself in helping his clients discover what they are capable of achieving. What's your dream? Let David help you make it a reality!
