Robert Massey, currently serving as the Deputy Executive Director at the Royal Astronomical Society since November 2006, specializes in astronomy media, policy, and external affairs, with oversight of education and outreach initiatives alongside IT operations. Previously, Robert held the role of Press and Policy Officer while serving as a councillor and cabinet member in Lewisham. From March 2016 to March 2021, Robert was the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Lightyear Foundation, a charity focused on STEM education for disabled children. Earlier experience includes serving as a Councillor in the London Borough of Lewisham and working as a Public Astronomer at the National Maritime Museum, among other academic and teaching positions. Robert’s educational background includes a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Manchester and a PGCE in Science from the University of Bolton.
