Dr. Dharini Shan

Medical Director Of Clinical Quality at Royal College of General Practitioners

Dr. Dharini Shan has extensive work experience in the medical field. Dr. Dharini is currently a Committee Member for the Committee of Medical Managers (CMM) at the British Medical Association since June 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Medical Director of Clinical Quality at the Royal College of General Practitioners starting from June 2019. Dr. Shan has also worked as a GP and Out of Hours GP for the NHS since February 2009 and June 2010 respectively. Additionally, they held the role of Deputy Medical Director at the Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust from October 2014 to December 2018. Dr. Dharini has been involved with various organizations such as NHS Alliance, NHS England, King's College London, and Royal College of General Practitioners in different capacities. Their roles included GP Appraiser at NHS England from December 2013 to April 2017, GP Tutor at King's College London from December 2013 to August 2015, and GP Lead for Homeless Team at King's Health Partners from December 2013 to September 2014. Dr. Dharini also served as a member of the RCGP AiT and First 5 committee at the Royal College of General Practitioners from September 2010 to July 2014. Lastly, Dr. Shan worked as a Cancer Commissioning Team Associate GP at NHS North West London Commissioning Support Unit from June 2013 to March 2014.

Dr. Dharini Shan has a degree in Medicine from the University of Leeds, which they obtained from 1998 to 2004. Dr. Dharini also holds a Diploma of RCOG (DRCOG) in Women's Health from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, earned in 2007. In 2009, they completed the Diploma of FSRH (DFSRH) in Women's Health from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and became a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). In 2010, they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Doctors as Managers (PGCert) with a focus on management from the University of Leeds. Finally, in 2018, Dr. Shan completed the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) program at the Institute of Functional Medicine, specializing in functional medicine.
