John Chisholm

Council Trustee at Royal College of General Practitioners

Dr John Chisholm has served on RCGP Council for over fourteen years, is Deputy Chair of the Trustee Board, is the health and work lead for the Royal College of General Practitioners and represents the College on the Council for Work and Health. John chairs the RCGP Superannuation Trust Company Limited which has responsibility for the College staff defined benefit pension scheme and is a member of the Boards of RCGP Enterprises Ltd and RCGP Conferences Ltd.

John is the Chair of the Men's Health Forum, a charity providing an independent and authoritative voice for male health in England and Wales, and a Board member and Trustee of the Self Care Forum. He is also a Commissioner for the Howard League Commission on Crime and Problem Gambling.

John is the Chair of the Medical Ethics Committee of the British Medical Association, and has represented the BMA at a number of international human rights conferences. He is a member of BMA Council and is a BMA Vice-President. He chaired the BMA's General Practitioners Committee and led the negotiation of the 2004 new GP contract.

John has been a member of many national professional and Governmental bodies over the last 45 years, including the General Medical Council and its Standards Committee, the Joint Committee on Postgraduate Training for General Practice and the Standing Medical Advisory Committee.
