Thomas J. Ricer, DMA, is an accomplished tubist with extensive experience in various musical ensembles and educational institutions. Currently serving as a tubist for Chamber Music Hawaii since January 2021, Ricer is also the Acting Principal Tuba for the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra since May 2013, having previously substituted since 2009. Ricer performs full-time with the Royal Hawaiian Band and has held a lecturer position at the University of Hawaii at Manoa since July 2012, teaching private tuba and euphonium instruction as well as brass methods. As a Yamaha Performing Artist and the founder and manager of the Johnny Cash tribute band CASH Back, Ricer maintains a diverse musical career that includes performances with the Emerald Brass Quintet and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Ricer holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor of Music from Miami University.
