Carolina Pereira Marghidan is currently a PhD Researcher at KNMI - Koninklijk Nederlands Meteorologisch Instituut, focusing on improving heatwave early warning systems to mitigate extreme heat risks. Carolina also works as a Consultant and Junior Researcher at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, supporting various heat-related research projects. Previous roles include organizing the Public Communication of Science & Technology (PCST2023) conference at the University of Twente, serving as an Education/Research Officer at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, and holding positions as a Student Assistant and GIS Intern. Carolina holds a Master’s degree in Spatial Engineering (Cum Laude) from the University of Twente and a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences (Cum Laude) from Amsterdam University College, alongside an exchange program at the University of Melbourne.
