Josh Nakaya

Josh Nakaya serves as the Director of Creative Development & Advanced Concept Design at Royal Caribbean International, leading a multi-disciplinary design team focused on innovating and prototyping products, services, and experiences. Previously, Nakaya held the positions of Creative Director and Lead Designer within the Royal Caribbean Group from October 2017 to September 2023, overseeing innovation lab projects across various business areas and managing creative resources. Nakaya boasts over seven years of experience as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Art Center College of Design, where insight into the industrial design process was provided to students. Prior roles include Innovation Manager and Assistant Manager at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive, delivering strategic solutions and product innovations, as well as freelance industrial design work for notable companies. A background in business consulting at Ernst & Young supports a robust foundation in problem-solving and design strategy. Educational credentials include a BS with Honors in Product Design from ArtCenter College of Design and a BA in Humanities from Brigham Young University.
