John M. Ballbach

John M. Ballbach is the former chairman and chief executive officer of VWR International, LLC., a global leader in laboratory supply and distribution. He served as the company’s chairman from 2007–2012 and as president and chief executive officer from 2005–2012. A seasoned chemicals and coatings industry executive, Ballbach was an independent director for Valspar from 2012–2017, when the company was sold to Sherwin-Williams. He is also a former corporate officer of Valspar, having served as president and chief operating officer from 2002–2004 and in various senior management positions since 1990. In addition, Ballbach was operating advisor for Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, a private investment firm, from 2014–2017. In connection with this role, he served as chairman and director for Solenis, LLC, a specialty chemicals manufacturer owned by Clayton. Previously, Ballbach was director and member of The Timken Company’s audit committee and a director of Celanese Corp. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College and an MBA from Harvard University.
