Malcolm Cleugh has a diverse range of work experience in the actuarial field. Malcolm began their career at RSA in 1991 as an Actuary and worked there until 1998. Malcolm then joined Swiss Re as an Actuary from 1998 to 2004. Following this, they worked at Royal & SunAlliance and Trygg-Hansa as a Senior Actuarial Consultant from 2004 to 2006. Malcolm then joined Codan as the Reserving Manager in Denmark from 2006 to 2008 before returning to RSA as a Group Reserving Actuary from 2008 to 2013. Cleugh also served as the Group Portfolio Risk Manager at RSA from 2013 to 2014. Afterwards, they held the role of Scandinavian Actuarial Manager at Codan Forsikring for a brief period in 2015 before joining Trygg-Hansa as the Interim Head of Reserving for Sweden. From 2016 to 2019, Cleugh worked as the Head of Reserving, Scandinavia for RSA Group, based at Trygg-Hansa in Stockholm. Malcolm currently holds the position of Head of Actuarial Function & Reporting at RSA since 2020 and has recently taken on the additional role of Head of UK Commercial Reserving.
Malcolm Cleugh obtained a Diploma in Actuarial Science from Cass Business School in the years 1990 and 1991. Prior to that, they received a BSc in Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics & Economics from the University of Warwick, where they studied from 1987 to 1990. In terms of additional certifications, Malcolm Cleugh is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries. Malcolm also completed a course called "Leading Others" offered by the Leadership Pipeline Institute in 2018.
