Nan Pond is an experienced biometrician and scientist who has worked with various organizations throughout their career. Nan started their work as a Forestry Extension Agent for the United States Peace Corps in 2007 and then began their education, working as a Graduate Research Assistant and PhD student at Michigan Technological University from 2009 to 2012. After completing their PhD, they returned to the university as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist from 2013 to 2014 and as an Adjunct Professor in 2016. In 2014, they joined NCX as a Biometrician and worked their way up to become the Chief Biometric Officer and Chief Data Scientist before leaving the company in November 2021. Nan later served as the Science Director for Forestry and then as the Director of Certification for the same company before leaving in March 2023. Currently, they are the Head of Nature-Based Research and Monitoring at Rubicon Carbon, a position they began in April 2023.
Nan Pond earned a Ph.D. in Forest Biometrics and Silviculture from Michigan Technological University between 2009 and 2012. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2006, Pond earned a B.S. in Forest and Natural Resources Management and Environmental and Forest Biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Before attending college, Pond attended Kingston High School, although it is unclear when Pond graduated or what degree or field of study was pursued.
