Scott Theisen

Scott Theisen has over 20 years of experience in design, with a focus on executive design leadership roles. Currently, they are the Executive Design Director at Scott Theisen Design Co, where they challenge clients to create modern and creative experiences for ideal users. Scott also observes and coaches teams to enhance performance and improve outcomes.

Prior to their current role, Scott was the Head of Design at a stealth crypto startup in 2021. In 2019, they served as the Design Director at Ruca, where they led design initiatives. Scott also worked at Northern Trust Corporation as the Director of Experience Design & Research Consultant from 2019 to 2022. In this role, they led transformative product design, integrated a UX-first mindset into development teams, managed global design teams, and conducted competitive research.

Before that, Scott was the Group Creative Director, Studio Sr Manager, and Chicago Studio Co-Founder at Deloitte Digital from 2018 to 2019. Scott led a digital studio, tripled its size, and worked with clients such as AbbVie, BCBS, Amazon, and more. From 2012 to 2018, they held multiple roles at VSA Partners, including Executive Creative Director, Interaction Design Discipline Lead, Associate Partner, and Creative Director, Digital. During their time at VSA Partners, they built enterprise apps, led interdisciplinary collaboration, and promoted user-research and data-driven design.

Additionally, Scott was involved with AIGA Chicago, serving as a Member of the Board of Advisors, Vice-President, and Treasurer. Scott also worked as a Design Director at Froeter Design from 2000 to 2012 and as a Designer at Lipman Hearne from 1999 to 2000.

Scott Theisen attended North Central High School but their degree and field of study are unknown. Scott then went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Design from the University of Iowa. Later, they pursued a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Visual Communication from the University of Arizona.
