Mason Markee

VP, Engineering at Rugged Robotics

Mason Markee is currently the VP of Engineering at Rugged Robotics. Prior to that, they were the Director of Mechanical Engineering, Robotics & Digital Solutions at Johnson & Johnson. In this role, they worked in a cross-discipline R&D organization to develop complex unique robotic medical platforms. Mason was responsible for the development of multiple generations of complex robotic sub-systems comprised of over 3,000 unique electro mechanical components including brushless DC motors, harmonic drives, rotary & linear transmissions, brakes, integrated sensors, and custom electronics.

Mason hired, mentored, and led managers & engineers for six project teams through multiple program phases including conceptual design, detailed design, assembly, clinical testing, and design release. Mason cultivated a culture of innovation, engineering discipline, objective decision making, and proactive communication. Mason also strategized short and long-term organizational & project goals as well as designed organizational structures, prepared budgets, created resource plans, and developed design-build-test timelines.

Mason generated and documented product architecture through Requirement Creation, Risk Management, Design Analysis, Bill of Materials, Assembly Instructions, Test Reports, and Design Reviews. Mason also developed a framework and process for cross functional collaboration to release designs, transfer knowledge to manufacturing team, and create production assembly test lines for robotic assemblies.

Mason Markee completed a BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. They then went on to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering.

They are on a team with Paul Valle - Director, R&D, Logan Farrell - Co-Founder & CTO. Mason Markee reports to Derrick Morse, Founder & CEO.
