Ashley Smith

Ashley Smith is the current Corporate Head of Development Management & Building Control at RUNNYMEDE BOROUGH COUNCIL. Prior to this, they served as the Deputy Head of Planning at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead from October 2017 to March 2020. In this role, they were responsible for the management, delivery, and operational improvement of the statutory Development Management service.

Before their work at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Ashley was the Team Manager of Development Management at Wokingham Borough Council from February 2007 to September 2017. In this role, they managed a team of development managers and was responsible for the overall management and delivery of development management services within the council. Ashley has also worked as a Development Control Officer at Wokingham Borough Council from January 2006 to February 2007.

Ashley Smith has extensive experience in the field of planning and development management. Ashley is a highly skilled manager with a proven track record in delivering high quality services to their customers.

Ashley Smith has a Masters in Development Planning from the University of Reading. The program is accredited by both the RTPI and RICS.

They work with Darren Williams - Corporate Head of Community Services, Andy Vincent - Corporate Head of Housing, and Alex Williams - Corporate Head of Assets & Regeneration. Ashley Smith reports to Paul Turrell, CEO & Head of Paid Service.
