Staff Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer at Runway

Daniel Sammons has a strong background in machine learning and data analysis. Daniel began their career as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Old Dominion University, where they taught a lab course and graded papers. Daniel then joined NASA Langley Research Center, where they worked as a Data Analyst and implemented a new convolutional neural network architecture for image segmentation, resulting in a significant speed improvement. Daniel also researched and implemented methods for segmenting damage in images and presented their work at a conference.

After their time at NASA, Daniel joined Orbital Insight, Inc. as a Software Engineer, specializing in computer vision and deep learning. Daniel then moved on to Doma, where they held multiple roles, including Senior Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineering Manager. Daniel'sresponsibilities included developing machine learning models and leading a team of engineers.

Most recently, Daniel joined Runway as a Staff Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer, where they utilize their expertise to support and enhance the company's machine learning infrastructure.

Daniel Sammons has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics, which they earned from Old Dominion University from 2009 to 2013. After completing their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from the same institution between 2013 and 2015. Additionally, from 2013 to 2014, Daniel earned a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security from Old Dominion University.
