Job description

As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a skilled and motivated Facilities Security and Compliance Specialist to join our team and ensure our facilities are safe, secure, and compliant with all regulatory standards.

The Facility Security and Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the security and compliance of all Space Florida facilities across its portfolio. This role involves managing keys, badges, and door access control systems to ensure only authorized personnel gain access to Space Florida properties. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this position is primarily based at the SLSL building.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue access badges to authorized personnel.
  • Manage the key inventory program.
  • Develop and implement security procedures to enhance the organization's security posture, including response plans for emergencies such as hurricanes or suspicious activities.
  • Collaborate with Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Security to address security concerns at Space Florida facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with NASA security directives.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical and electronic door locks.
  • Coordinate with vendors for advanced lock repairs or replacements.
  • Monitor security cameras and door access control systems to safeguard facilities.
  • Procure necessary materials and supplies related to security operations.
  • Conduct routine security inspections of facilities and promptly address identified vulnerabilities.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Previous experience in facilities security and/or compliance roles (or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Facilities Management, Compliance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Certifications such as [Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or others] are a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret Security clearance.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, with or without accommodation.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Sitting for extended periods: Working on a computer to analyze data, write reports, and review compliance documents.

  • Fine motor skills: Typing, using a mouse, and handling paperwork.

  • Visual acuity: Reading screens, documents, and compliance regulations for long durations.

  • Repetitive movements: Performing routine tasks such as entering data or conducting virtual meetings.

  • Walking and standing: Moving around office buildings, factories, or data centers for inspections.

  • Bending or crouching: Checking physical security measures like locks, cameras, or access points.

  • Carrying equipment: Transporting laptops, files, or tools used during inspections (usually light in weight).
