Michele Norin

Michele Norin is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Office of Information Technology at Rutgers University. Michele has held this position since November 2015. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President for IT and Chief Information Officer at the University of Arizona from February 1989 to November 2015. In this role, they were responsible for the University's IT strategies and policies, and provided campus-wide oversight for IT-related issues and strategic planning. Michele also worked closely with the Arizona Board of Regents' Technology Oversight Committee in representing UA's IT strategies, and partnered with the chief information technology officers within the Arizona Universities System to achieve synergies in IT.

Under their leadership, the CIO leadership team was reshaped to reflect more representation and coordination of campus IT, and to allow the CIO more time for strategic direction setting. Michele also developed a new IT Strategic Plan focused on the next five years, which included strategies, actions, projected costs, timelines, and metrics. This plan included a very indepth plan for optimizing IT resources and investments across campus for a decentralized environment. In partnership with the VP for Research Office, they co-invested in a research data facility to house the institution’s HPC/HTC systems. Additionally, they oversaw the outsourcing of student email to Google and faculty/staff email to on-prem Microsoft Exchange. Michele also secured regential approval to increase the Student IT Fee to expand technology into every classroom and to increase

Michele Norin has a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and a BS in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona. Michele also attended the University of South Carolina.
