Brian Søegaard

Brian S. serves as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Federal Civil Rights Litigation Division for the City of Chicago since May 2023, notably defending the city in a high-profile wrongful death jury trial. Previously, Brian S. was an Assistant State’s Attorney at the Cook County State's Attorney's Office from August 2018 to April 2023, where responsibilities included prosecuting felony cases, managing bench trials, leading jury trial teams, and developing training resources for new attorneys. Earlier experience includes a legal internship with the Department of Justice, an internship with the US District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, a role as Student Body Treasurer at the University of Illinois, and broadcasting for the Mat Su Miners Baseball Team. Brian S. holds a Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
