Elaine O'Connor, SCMP has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Starting in 2000, they worked as a Journalist and Researcher at the Toronto Star, covering crime, police, and city news. Elaine then moved on to the Ottawa Citizen in 2002, where they served as a Journalist, reporting on daily news and features in Canada's national capital region. In 2003, they joined The Province as a Journalist and Editor, delivering local news. In 2008, they became an International Travel Writer and Photographer at The Vancouver Sun, reaching readers across British Columbia.
O'Connor's career took a different direction in 2015 when they joined the Fraser Health Authority as a Senior Consultant in Communications and Public Affairs, managing strategic communications projects for the health authority. In 2020, they took on the role of Communications Director at BC's Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, where they contributed to the development of organizational strategic plans, built institutional infrastructure, managed teams and projects, and advised the executive team. Since 2021, they have been serving as the Director of Strategic Communications and Partnerships at S.U.C.C.E.S.S., contributing to the organization's strategic initiatives.

Elaine O'Connor, SCMP has a diverse education background. Elaine obtained an Associate's Certificate in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2019. Prior to that, they completed another Associate's Certificate in Public Relations, Marketing Management, and Applied Communications from the same institute between 2012 and 2015. Moving further back in their education history, O'Connor earned a Post Graduate Degree in Journalism (then Bachelor's now Master's) from Ryerson University in 2002. Their undergraduate studies include a Bachelor of Arts, Honours degree from McGill University, where they majored in English and Women's/Gender Studies and graduated in 1999. Additionally, O'Connor has obtained various certifications, including the Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) from the Global Communication Certification Council, and they have participated in leadership training courses from Fluency Leadership Inc., among other credentials.
