John Rutledge has a diverse work experience, spanning various industries and roles over the years. John started their career in 1990 as the Chairman of Rutledge & Company and later founded Rutledge Capital, LLC in 1991, where they served as Chairman. In 2008, they joined Safanad as the Chief Investment Strategist. John also held positions as an Economics Contributor for CNBC and Forbes Magazine, writing articles for their platforms and appearing on Forbes on Fox on Fox News. In 2007, they became an Honorary Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2010, they joined Claremont Graduate University as a Senior Research Professor, primarily focusing on chairing dissertation committees for PhD students and conducting research. In 2014, they became a Member of the Board of Directors at Compassus, a position they held until March 2020. Currently, they serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Early Learning Academies and as a Director on the Board of Element Critical. John Rutledge's work experience demonstrates their expertise in investment strategy, economics, academia, and advisory roles in various organizations.

John Rutledge received their Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia, which they attended from 1970 to 1973. Following their doctoral studies, they went on to become an Assistant Professor of Economics at Tulane University, where they taught from 1973 to 1975. John then served as an Associate Professor of Economics at Claremont McKenna College from 1975 to 1982. Later, in 1996 to 2000, Rutledge obtained a BA in Economics from Lake Forest College.
