Title: Education Coordinator   

Summary: Safe Harbor’s Education Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of domestic abuse education content for staff development and community engagement.   Education Coordinator functions include but are not limited to assisting with onboarding and orientation of new staff members and continuing education; developing strategic community education that is culturally relevant and accessible, with specific intent to reach communities disproportionately impacted by domestic abuse and  facilitating partnerships with specific groups that may interface with victims of domestic abuse such as health care providers, law enforcement, social service agencies, faith communities, and other non-profit organizations and businesses.  This is a full-time, hourly, nonexempt position eligible for full benefits.  

Reports To: Education Program Manager 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Assist in developing and implementing best practices for domestic abuse awareness strategies, focusing on delivery to diverse communities, especially those most impacted by abuse.

  • Actively pursue opportunities and maintain collaborative partnerships with community groups that intersect with survivors of domestic abuse to provide domestic abuse-specific training and Safe Harbor services

  • Manage speaking requests for domestic abuse education and outreach at education-based tabling events
  • Assist in developing culturally relevant and trauma informed content and curriculum for Safe Harbor’s educational programming for clients, staff, volunteers, interns and community members.

  • Work with Education Program Manager and other direct service leaders to identify training needs and coordinate best practice and Victim Service Provider (VSP) to strengthen service delivery and staff and volunteer development

  • Aid in managing LearnDash and other identified platforms for all educational and on boarding efforts: New Staff Orientation, DSS Mandatory Training, VSP approved staff training, Domestic abuse education, Volunteer training, etc.

  • Provide technical support, statistic tracking and documentation of completion for DA online education course or subsequent trainings

  • Collaborate with Education team to develop and implement a strategic and comprehensive education and prevention plan for the Safe Harbor service area of Greenville, Pickens, Anderson, and Oconee counties.

  • Participate in Safe Harbor staff meetings, team meetings, training, and continuing education.

  • Enthusiastically supports and models the vision and mission of Safe Harbor to staff, clients, and community.

  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required with relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of intimate partner abuse, and the dynamics of adolescent abuse preferred

  • Experience with training and facilitation of small and large groups with diverse populations.

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written.  Public speaking experience preferred.

  • Must work well independently and with a team. This position works primarily outside of an office setting (from home and in community-based settings). Candidates must display and possess a high level of initiative, integrity, and dedication for this position.

  • Ability to relate to others in an empathetic, non-judgmental, and supportive manner.

  • Possession of a valid SC Driver’s License and/or reliable transportation for work-related travel.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours.

  • Ability to pass contingent screening of criminal background check and drug test

  • Bilingual skills preferred with consideration for additional compensation
