Erin Mooney is an experienced executive leader in international development and health equity, currently serving as Executive Director of Safe Passage/Camino Seguro since July 2023 and previously holding the same title at Natün Guatemala from January 2019 to July 2023. Erin's leadership focuses on advancing education, malnutrition prevention, and economic development within the indigenous Mayan community through a community-led development model. Prior roles include Executive Director at Cultivando, where Erin advanced health equity for Latino immigrants in Colorado, and leadership positions at Open Door Community Health Centers and LatinoNet, emphasizing health promotion and capacity building. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in International Development Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Native American Studies from Cal Poly Humboldt.

Safe Passage/Camino Seguro
Safe Passage helps children in the Guatemala City garbage dump community break the cycle of poverty through education, emphasizing life skills and perseverance in order to thrive in work and contribute to their community. Safe Passage is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working in Guatemala City to bring hope, education, and opportunity to the children and families living in extreme poverty around the City's garbage dump. Our program includes approximately 500 children, ranging in age from 3 to 21 years, coming from nearly 300 families in the surrounding neighborhoods.
