Joyce A. Overman Dube

Joyce is a High Reliability Expert for Safe and Reliable Healthcare with over 35 years of leadership and performance improvement experience. In her 40 plus year career with the Mayo Clinic, she held progressive leadership positions focused on improving the care for patients while improving safety culture for both patients and employees.

She played a significant leadership role in the design and development of the structural and process components of Mayo Clinic’s Enterprise culture of safety program. Additionally, she facilitated assessments and developed effective action plans based on qualitative and quantitative data. Joyce led the development of numerous educational tools based on the opportunities for improvement in work area culture across Mayo Clinic Enterprise including the topics of Psychological Safety, Fair and Just Culture and Speaking Up for Safety.

As a Quality Administrator and Registered Nurse leader with deep people leadership and broad experience in Quality Improvement teams, Joyce served as champion, leader, mentor, facilitator, and team member on numerous multidisciplinary teams. She has extensive experience leading large surgical/procedural nursing teams where she coached staff and developed solutions to a variety of large complex problems.

Joyce’s passion for teamwork, program and process creation led her to being one of the first nurses to first author a manuscript in the prestigious Mayo Clinic Proceedings.

Joyce received her Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in nursing, from the College of St. Benedict, and a Master of Science degree, with a major in nursing administration, from the University of Minnesota. She holds the rank of Assistant Professor of Nursing from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science and is a Mayo Clinic Silver Quality Fellow. Joyce is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing. She has presented nationally and internationally in many venues and on a variety of topics and has published on the topics of Transplant Nursing, hospital noise control and interdisciplinary teamwork. Joyce is a Certified Change Management practitioner through Prosci®.
