Richard Baraniuk

Richard Baraniuk is an accomplished academic and entrepreneur currently serving as the Founder and Director of SafeInsights since 2024 and OpenStax since 1999. Baraniuk holds dual titles as the C. Sidney Burrus Professor and Victor E. Cameron Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, where an academic career has spanned from 1992 to the present. Previously, Baraniuk founded and directed Connexions from 1999 until 2012. Educational background includes a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba. Baraniuk also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Signal Processing at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon.
