Katelyn Tomford

Katelyn Tomford is a System Engineer at Safran Federal Systems since April 2023, with a strong background in product design engineering at LSI Solutions from March 2018 to March 2023. In the role of Product Design Engineer II, Katelyn focused on continuous improvement of knot-fastening medical devices and applied root cause problem-solving to enhance design in a regulated environment. As a Product Design Engineer I, Katelyn led the development from initial prototype to product launch, emphasizing manufacturability and assembly. Earlier experience includes research on a non-ionizing radiation breast cancer scanner at the University of Rochester and a manufacturing transformation co-op at Bimbo Bakeries USA, where Katelyn implemented lean manufacturing principles. Katelyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University.
