Michael Hutchinson

Michael Hutchinson is an experienced robotics professional currently serving as the Head of Robotics Software at SAGA ROBOTICS in THORVALD since March 2019, with previous roles as a Senior Robotics Engineer and Robotics Engineer. Michael specializes in algorithm development, localization, sensor setup and fusion, field testing, demonstrations, and robotics deployment, utilizing skills in Python, C++, ROS, Bash, Github/Git, and Ubuntu/Linux, alongside expertise in Lidar, RTK GNSS, IMU, and Odometer technologies. Prior to SAGA ROBOTICS, Michael was a Research Associate at Loughborough University, focusing on autonomous drones for emergency HAZMAT situations, following the completion of a Ph.D. in Autonomous Vehicles and a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the same institution.
