Sophia Airhart

Sophia Airhart has a diverse and extensive work experience in the medical field. Sophia is currently working as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Utah Health since March 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Medical Director at ST ALPHONSUS REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER INC starting from November 2022.

From May 2020 to November 2022, Sophia worked as an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist at Providence St. Vincent Heart Clinic. Before that, they held the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona from July 2017 to May 2020.

Sophia also gained valuable experience during their time at Allegheny Health Network, where they worked as an Advanced Heart Failure Fellow from June 2016 to June 2017. Sophia presented a lecture on "Hemodynamics of Pulmonary Hypertension; implications for diagnosis" during an Innovations in Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension Conference.

Furthermore, Sophia was a Cardiology Fellow at the University of Washington Medical Center. Sophia received the Western States Affiliate Summer 2014 AHA Postdoctoral Fellowship for their project on "Novel Nutritional Therapy for Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Systolic Heart Failure."

Their professional journey began as an Internal Medicine Resident at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where they received the Mentors in Medicine Research Scholarship in 2012 and 2013. Their research included investigating the effect of diet on the plasma lipidome in patients with Type 2 diabetes to develop innovative therapies for diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Sophia Airhart received their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Oregon Health & Science University, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy at Whitman College from 2000 to 2004.

In terms of additional certifications, Sophia Airhart obtained a certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) from the CITI Program in June 2023. Sophia also holds certifications in Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine, Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine, and Diplomate of the American Society of Echocardiography and Board Certified in Adult Comprehensive Echocardiography from the American Society of Echocardiography.
