Scott Torre

Scott Torre is the current Director of Campus Safety at Saint Peter's University. Prior to this, they served as the President of NJ CUPSA from January 2017 to December 2017. Before that, they were Deputy Police Chief at the New Providence Police Department from January 2006 to January 2014.

Scott has extensive experience in criminal investigations and critical infrastructure assessment/protection. Scott has also spent their career making sound decisions in handling critical incidents and mitigating risks.

During their time as Deputy Police Chief, Scott was responsible for the day-to-day operations and all divisions of the police department. Scott assisted in the process of State Accreditation and re-accreditation through the development and implementation of policies and best practices to align with the identified professional standard goals of the department. Scott also developed and maintained a comprehensive school security program specifically addressing site security, active shooter and explosive device response, lockdown and evacuation procedures.

In addition to their law enforcement experience, Scott is skilled in staffing, planning, contract negotiations, hiring and promotional processes. Scott has also managed the process for hiring new officers and 911 Communications Dispatchers, including interviewing, selection, and training.

Scott is a member of the Union County Counter Terrorism Task Force and has served as Chairman of Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse from 1995-2014.

Scott Torre has a Master's Degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a Graduate degree in Executive Leadership from the FBI National Academy, and a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology from Saint Leo University. Scott is also certified by the New Jersey Department of Personnel/Fairleigh Dickinson University as a Certified Public Manager.
