Dr. Akm Nazmul Islam

Dr. AKM Nazmul Islam has a diverse work experience spanning over several organizations. Dr. AKM Nazmul began their career as an Honorary Medical Officer at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in 2009. Dr. AKM Nazmul then worked as a Senior Medical Officer and Medical Officer in Cardiology at the National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute from 2010 to 2015. In 2015, they served as a Research Consultant at the Bangladesh Institute of Social Research.

Dr. Islam later joined AFC Health Ltd. in 2016, where they held the position of Facility Director for both the Cumilla and Khulna units. During their time there, they acted as a custodian for clinical protocols, ensured high standards of patient care, monitored various departments, and collaborated with the nursing superintendent to maintain quality patient care.

In 2019, Dr. Islam became an Assistant Director and Center Director at BiHS General Hospital and UHC Component. Dr. AKM Nazmul also worked as the Head of Medical Services at AFC Health Ltd. during that time, overseeing the functioning of diagnostic facilities, infection control departments, medical records, and patient documentation.

In 2020, Dr. Islam took on the role of Assistant Director/In-Charge of Store and Procurement at BiHS General Hospital. Dr. AKM Nazmul also served as an Adjunct Faculty at the University of South Asia, where they taught until 2021.

From 2021 to 2023, Dr. Islam worked at CMED Health as the Chief Business Officer and later as the Head of Medical Services and Business Development. Dr. AKM Nazmul played a key role in the company's business strategy and development.

Currently, they are the Head of Operations at SAJIDA Foundation, specifically at the Neuroscience & Psychiatry Hub Ltd.

Dr. AKM Nazmul Islam completed their education at various institutions. Dr. AKM Nazmul achieved a Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Epidemiology from the University of South Asia in 2020. In 2018, they received Executive Education in Hospital and Health Care Facilities Administration/Management from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Dr. AKM Nazmul also holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Mymensingh Medical College, which they completed between 2000 and 2005. Prior to that, they completed their Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Notre Dame College in 1999 and their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Monipur High School, Dhaka in 1997. Dr. AKM Nazmul Islam also possesses additional certifications in OET Listening Sub-Test, OET Reading Sub-Test, and OET Speaking Sub-Test from OET institution, although the obtained dates are not provided.
