John Powell

John Powell has a diverse work experience in the field of design and user experience. John is currently working as the Head of Product Design at Saleae, Inc. since May 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Director of User Experience at MetaTeq from May 2022 to March 2023. Between January 2021 and May 2022, they worked as the Design Director at Reaktor. Before that, they held the position of Design Director at Hypergiant from September 2019 to January 2021. John also worked at Reaktor as the Design Director from November 2018 to September 2019, as the Principal Product Designer from December 2017 to October 2018, and as the Lead Product Designer from December 2016 to November 2017. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior UX Designer at Under Armour from May 2015 to November 2016. John also served as a UX/UI Designer at The LIVESTRONG Foundation from June 2012 to May 2015. Before transitioning into the design industry, John worked as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Auburn University from August 2011 to May 2012, as an Assistant Professor at Texas State University from August 2007 to May 2011, and as an Assistant Professor at Kent State University from June 2006 to June 2007.

John Powell completed their Master of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design from Louisiana Tech University from 2003 to 2006. Prior to that, they earned their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design from Texas State University, where they studied from 1997 to 2000. In 1994, John attended The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a degree in Computer Science, but they did not complete the program.
