Harish Bhaskaran has a long and distinguished career in applied nanomaterials. Harish began in 1999 as an Undergraduate Researcher at the National Chemical Laboratory, followed by an MS Student and Research/Teaching Assistant at CALCE, University of Maryland in 2000. In 2002, they became a PhD Candidate and Graduate Research Assistant at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences. From 2006 to 2009, they were an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University, working on NEMS with applications in sensitive detection of magnetic fields using magnetostrictive materials. In 2010, they were a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the University of Exeter, where they established and led the Advanced Nanoscale Engineering Laboratory. In 2015, they became a Board Member and Co-Founder of Bodle Technologies, leading the seed funding round and subsequent rounds, as well as setting up the company. Harish also took a 9 month sabbatical within the company in 2018. In 2013, they became a Professor of Applied Nanomaterials at the University of Oxford, where they established and led a Research Team (Advanced Nanoscale Engineering Group). Harish held an EPSRC Fellowship in Manufacturing and was responsible for research, teaching and leadership responsibilities. In 2021, they became a Co-Founder of Salience Labs, where they are an inventor of technology and vision, and serves on the Board.
Harish Bhaskaran's education history is as follows: Harish completed their High School at Loyola High School, Pune in 1996. Harish then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Engineering (Distinction) in Civil Engineering from COEP Technological University in 2000. Harish then pursued a Master of Science - MS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland in 2002 and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the same university in 2006. In 2011, they obtained a Postgraduate Certification in Academic Practice from the University of Exeter. In addition, they have obtained certifications such as CEng from IMechE in 2019, Non-Executive Board of Directors Training from James Cowper Kreston in 2015, Mini MBA from IBM in 2008, and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
