Ashley McKinney

Ashley McKinney currently serves as Principal for the Salt Lake City School District since September 2023, following a role as Assistant Principal at Canyons School District from July 2017 to October 2023. McKinney's expertise includes designing and delivering professional learning in trauma-informed environments and restorative justice, collaborating with educators on intervention plans, and overseeing school-wide behavior and mental health systems. Previous experience includes serving as a Senior Research Associate at the Utah Education Policy Center, where McKinney facilitated school improvement efforts, and as an Instructional Coach in the Humboldt Unified School District. McKinney's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah, a Master of Education from UCLA, and a Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University.
