Paul Kwon

Paul (Youngwook) Kwon is a Senior Principal Engineer at SambaNova Systems since May 2024, specializing in ViT, VLM, and Multimodality. Previously, Paul held multiple roles at Phantom AI from 2017 to August 2024, including Manager of the Deep Learning Team and various engineering positions, where notable achievements included implementing advanced deep learning architectures and securing high rankings in vehicle detection benchmarks. Academic experience includes serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Berkeley from 2011 to 2017, focusing on machine learning and deep learning modifications, and undertaking multiple internships at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Educational credentials comprise a PhD in Computer Vision/Manufacturing and a Master’s in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, along with a dual Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Seoul National University.
