Kevin Lai

Kevin Lai has extensive experience in computer vision and machine learning. Kevin is currently working as an Applied Science & Engineering Manager in Computer Vision / Machine Learning at Samsara. Prior to this, they worked at Amazon for nearly 10 years, holding various roles including Applied Science & Engineering Manager and Senior Applied Scientist in Computer Vision / Machine Learning at Amazon Go / Just Walk Out stores.

Before joining Amazon, Kevin worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Washington, where they developed a robust and fast object recognition system using RGB-D cameras. Kevin also had a research internship at NEC Laboratories America, Inc., where they developed an efficient supervised learning technique for image scene labeling.

In addition, Kevin gained experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of British Columbia, where they developed mapping and planning algorithms for an autonomous robot. Kevin also worked as a Game AI Programmer at Threewave Software and as a Software Developer at Business Objects (SAP) and IBM Canada Ltd.

Kevin Lai holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia.
