Marc Clifford

Marc Clifford has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and industries. Marc started their career at Delivery Wiz in 2014, where they led a team in developing an Android-based food ordering and delivery application. Marc then joined WHSmith in 2009 as a sales assistant and eventually became a team leader, managing a team across multiple retail units.

In 2015, Marc joined Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. as an Application Developer & Support Analyst. Here, they contributed to a web-based commercial insurance trading system, maintaining the existing application while delivering improvements and new functionality.

In 2017, Marc moved to the UK Civil Service as a Software Engineer. Marc delivered performant data-intensive React web apps as part of an Agile front-end development team. Marc also contributed to data model design, supported test engineers in developing an automated test suite, and ran a department-wide lunch and learn program.

Marc's most recent role is at Samsara, where they have held various positions since 2019. Marc started as a Software Engineer + Team Lead, focused on unlocking European fleet markets and delivering products in the vehicle telematics space. Marc then became a Senior Software Engineer + Team Lead, leading a software engineering team and architecting a platform-wide framework for electric vehicles and sustainable driving. Currently, they serve as a Software Engineering Manager, managing a full stack software engineering team in the Vehicle Safety space and mentoring engineers.

Throughout their career, Marc has demonstrated strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and the ability to collaborate across teams and functions.

Marc Clifford attended UCL from 2011 to 2015, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
