Rick Carragher has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Rick currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Engineering at Samsara since February 2023. Prior to this, they served as the VP of Engineering at Samsara from July 2021 to February 2023.
Before joining Samsara, Rick held several leadership positions at Amazon. From July 2019 to July 2021, they were the Technology Director, Amazon Health & Wellness. Rick also served as the Director, Alexa Connected Devices from May 2017 to July 2019 and Director, Amazon Video Catalog and X-Ray from October 2016 to May 2017. Prior to their tenure at Amazon, Rick worked at ThoughtWorks as a Technical Principal from April 2013 to June 2014, where they collaborated with clients to define and implement technology strategies.
Rick also has experience as a CTO at The Neat Company from March 2011 to January 2013, where they led the design and implementation of NeatCloud and established Agile methodologies.
Rick served as the Chief Technology Officer at AlphaBuyer, an early-stage startup, from July 2010 to March 2011, where they built the technology team and launched the product using lean practices and Agile methodologies.
Rick also has experience at GSI Commerce as the Chief Architect from May 2009 to July 2010, where they led a team of architects in defining architectural strategies and implementations.
Rick began their career at IBM Global Services as a Certified IT Architect from December 1998 to January 2005, specializing in enterprise architecture and large-scale Internet-based projects.
Rick Carragher started their professional journey as a Systems Engineer at EDS from June 1995 to November 1998.
Rick Carragher attended Lehigh University from 1991 to 1995, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Engineering. In addition, they have pursued various certifications in the field of deep learning and machine learning from Coursera. Rick completed the "Deep Learning Specialization" in January 2019, followed by "Sequence Models" in the same month. In December 2018, Rick obtained a certification in "Convolutional Neural Networks". Rick also completed the "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization" and "Structuring Machine Learning Projects" certifications in April 2018. Prior to that, they obtained the "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" certification in March 2018.
