Sean Herron

Director, Security Engineering at Samsara

Sean Herron's work experience begins in 2008 when they served as the Head of Donor Relations for the John Dau Foundation. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Technology Strategist for NASA, where they contributed to open government and open data initiatives. In 2013, they became a Presidential Innovation Fellow at the White House, working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to build the openFDA platform.

From 2014 to 2015, Herron joined the GSA's 18F as an early hire, where they helped establish various projects and collaborations, including a platform for crowdsourcing funding for Volunteer projects with the Peace Corps. In 2015, they became the Director of Engineering for Planet, managing the Corporate Engineering & Information Security team.

In 2019, Herron joined Slack as the Director of Engineering for the Business Technology division, overseeing projects related to automation and regulatory compliance. In 2020, they briefly worked as Campaign Staff for Biden for President. Sean is currently employed at Samsara as the Director of Information Security, responsible for protecting corporate systems, customer data, and key engineering systems. Herron has led security assessments and programs, enhancing the company's core infrastructure and reinforcing customer trust. Lastly, they are also the owner of Hawk Hill Farm since 2021.

Sean Herron is currently pursuing a degree in Management and Leadership at the MIT Sloan School of Management, starting in 2021. Prior to this, they completed a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs at Syracuse University - Maxwell School in 2011. Sean also studied Global Enterprise Technology at Syracuse University School of Information Studies in the same year.
