Shivakumar Balasubramanyam

Shivakumar Balasubramanyam has extensive experience in engineering management and research and product development. Most recently, they worked as a Senior Engineering Manager at Samsara, where they focused on AI safety dash cameras. Prior to that, they held the same position at Magic Leap for four years.

Before their time at Magic Leap, Shivakumar worked at Qualcomm for 16 years in various roles. As a Senior Staff Engineer, they conducted research and product development, including enabling ultrasound pen for AR/VR use cases and feasibility studies on low power gaze tracking. Shivakumar also served as the Engineering Lead for an AR Head Mounted Display project, where they led a team to mitigate technical risks and demonstrated the use of eye tracking and face recognition.

Earlier in their career at Qualcomm, Shivakumar held positions as a Staff Engineer and Engineer, where they worked on software project engineering, software frameworks, and development of client simulation tools for QChat.

Shivakumar Balasubramanyam pursued their Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication from the University of Bangalore, which they completed from 1994 to 1997.
