Sorin Scumpu

Sorin Scumpu has a wide range of work experience in the steel industry. Sorin started their career as a Materials Engineer and Laboratory Associate at École Polytechnique of Montréal, where they worked from 1997 to 1999. Sorin then moved on to Plymouth Steel Corporation, where they served as a Metallurgist and Laboratory Manager from 1999 to 2004. After that, Sorin joined Nucor Cold Finish as a QA Metallurgist, focusing on quality improvement and compliance with industry standards. From 2006 to 2013, they worked as a Senior Application Engineer at SSAB / IPSCO, where they specialized in steel applications. Following this, Sorin served as a Product Manager at Ruukki Metals from 2013 to 2014. Sorin then joined Samuel, Son & Co., where they held multiple roles including Technical Services Specialist and Business Development Manager - Carbon Steel, focusing on identifying business opportunities, implementing growth strategies, and providing consulting services.

Sorin Scumpu holds a Masters degree in Metallurgy from the Polytechnic University Bucharest in Romania. Additionally, they obtained a Masters of Applied Sciences (Maîtrise Ès Sciences Appliquées) in Metallurgy from Polytechnique Montréal.
