Patricia Vining is an experienced design educator and creative director with a diverse background in graphic design, design strategy, and curriculum development. Currently serving as the Director and Instructor of the Design Pathway at Samueli Academy since August 2017, Patricia has focused on developing a cross-disciplinary high school design program. Previous roles include Professor of Digital and Graphic Design at Chapman University and various instructor positions at Cal Poly Pomona and California State University, Fullerton. Patricia's professional experience also encompasses ownership of Vining Barton Design and creative leadership at WeddingBrand and Ideopolis, while contributing content to platforms like The Huffington Post Weddings. Patricia Vining holds an MFA in Graphic Design from Louisiana State University and further educational credentials from the School of Visual Arts and other institutions.

Samueli Academy
Samueli Academy is a public, tuition-free 7-12th grade charter school founded by Orangewood Foundation in 2013. We serve youth from all over Orange County and emphasize support for teens in foster care and underserved communities. Samueli Academy is a rigorous and extremely supportive learning environment. We strive to position students for college and career success using eight educational best practices: 1. STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) 2. Project-Based learning 3. Work-based learning 4. Engineering and Design Pathways 5. Small class sizes (21:1 student-teacher ratio) 6. Small student body (approximately 820 in grades 7-12) 7. Laptop for each student 8.
