Joe Clark

Joe is entering his 36th season with the Silver and Black. He began his career with the Spurs as a sales intern in 1985. Today, Joe oversees the Spurs Sports Academy and Spurs Give, the official 501c3 nonprofit organization of Spurs Sports and Entertainment.

Spurs Sports Academy exists to develop young athletes while inspiring lifelong memories and building character through competition. The Academy offers a variety of youth athletic engagement programs in San Antonio & Austin that include basketball, soccer, and Jr NBA events.

In his current role, Joe manages the year-round Spurs Basketball Camps that have been in place for over 45 years. These camps range from half-day camp sessions to holiday camp workouts and 10-plus weekly summer camp sessions. The summer camps attract over 1,500 boys and girls ages 6-17. During the Covid-19 period, he and his team launched a new offering for youth to receive Virtual Training Camps and Workouts and have had over 2,000 youth participate. He also introduced the Spurs Tournament Series which hosts competitive basketball tournaments year-round for boys and girls youth travel teams by hosting 10-12 weekend basketball tournaments in San Antonio and Austin throughout the year, including the Spurs Nationals Tournament in late June each year hosting 500+ teams from around the world and over 10,000 visitors to San Antonio.

In July of 2020, Joe began oversight of the long-standing and very impactful Spurs Give. Since 1988, the foundation has invested over $32 million into San Antonio and surrounding communities. The mission of Spurs Give is to strengthen and serve the communities through impactful programming, player engagements, and investments that enrich the lives of youth and those around them.

Before leading the Sports Academy, Joe led the ticket sales, premium, and season ticket services as well as the ticket operations departments from 1992-2017. He twice coordinated relocation efforts for Spurs ticket holders (from the HemisFair Arena to the Alamodome in 1993 and from the Alamodome to the AT&T Center in 2002 as well as during the ATT Center renovation during the summer of 2015). He continues to work with the famous Baseline Bums.

Joe is very active within his community serving as a member with the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus, Men’s ACTS, the TMIY community with Holy Trinity Church and has coached an AAU Basketball team for over 10 years. He also serves as a Big Brother mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Joe is on the board for Baylor University’s S3 program (sports, sales, and sponsorship) and Positive Coaching Alliance, volunteers with the Alfred D. Hughes Unit Prison is Gatesville, TX, and serves on the Chariots of Fire Board there. He is a graduate of Greater San Antonio & Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Leadership San Antonio Class #34 and served as a steering committee member for LSA Class #38.

A native of Janesville, Wisconsin, Joe received his bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a master’s in sports management from Western Illinois University.
