Jaime Castillo has a diverse work experience spanning different fields and roles. Jaime started their career in 2000 as a Metro columnist at the San Antonio Express-News. From 2009 to 2014, they worked at the Office of Mayor Julián Castro, where they served as Communications Director and Senior Policy Analyst. Jaime then became the Chief of Staff for the same office from 2013 to 2014. In 2014, Castillo joined the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where they held the positions of Deputy Chief of Staff and later, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. In 2017, they worked as the Director of Public Affairs at GDC Marketing & Ideation. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Strategy Officer/Chief of Staff at the San Antonio Water System.

Jaime Castillo pursued their education at The University of Texas at El Paso from 1985 to 1990, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies. Jaime continued their academic journey at The University of Texas at Austin, where they completed their Master of Arts (MA) degree in Latin American Studies from 1993 to 1995.
